1833  (1838)  The high-bush cranberry, by far the most delicate and admired of all our native fruits, was not yet ripe.
1912  The "high-bush" cranberry . . . is not highly regarded as an article of human diet, but we found its acrid tartness very refreshing, when there were no currants or gooseberries to be had along the trail.
